Our Story

2018

Relocated Ocean Ventures HQ to Natewa Bay near Salt Lake, approximately 35 minutes from Savusavu, Fiji.

​

Held second Operation Wallacea expedition, with 170 students from 7 countries taking part in village homestays, forest surveys and reef ecology education.

International border closed in March 2020.

​

Launched South Pacific Coral Reef Ecology online course.

​

Started working with the village of Vusaratu on community ecotourism project.

Ocean Ventures was born!

 

Established Operation Wallacea marine site in Natewa Bay and launched first marine expedition for 170 high school students from 6 countries, taking part in village homestays, forest surveys, dive training and reef ecology education.

2019

Bought custom-built dive boat Vevewai Loaloa and began half-day dive and snorkel trips in Natewa Bay.

​

Completed third Operation Wallacea marine expedition with 180 high school students from 7 countries, taking part in homestays, forest and marine education.

2021

Began Conservation Leadership Program, giving nature-based experiences to young Fijians from communities on Vanua Levu.

​

Launched Coral Restoration Program, with 4,000 corals in nurseries at 5 different reefs.

​

International border reopened in December 2021.
